Engineering 1.0
Builder 2.0.
Wanna switch?
We are hiring two builders. Not the kind that writes code by hand all day. The kind that orchestrates agents, ships systems, and refuses to be precious about the stack.
The shift
The job changed. A lot of teams are pretending it didn't.
Engineering 1.0
Pick a stack, write code.
- Code by hand all day
- One stack, deep specialization
- Tickets, sprints, narrow scope
- Engineering behind a wall
- Senior = 10 years of patterns
- Tools rarely change
Builder 2.0
Pick a problem, ship a system.
- Code is generated, you shape it
- Stacks are commodities, swap them
- Systems thinking, full ownership
- Engineering in customer calls
- Senior = how fast you adapt
- New tools every quarter
2 roles, 1 vision
Two open shapes. Same posture, slightly different center of gravity.
Full-Stack Builder
You ship product end to end. Frontend, backend, agents in the editing pipeline. You have already shipped at least one thing where Claude or Codex did most of the typing.
- Ship features end to end, no handoffs
- Wire AI agents into the platform
- Customer-facing if you want a seat
- Junior or senior, what we care about is posture
AI Builder
You have built agents, fine-tuned models, or stitched LLMs into a real workflow that humans depend on. Bonus if you have touched anything in the video AI space.
- Own the AI layer of the editing pipeline
- Build the internal automation that runs the company
- Train, evaluate, replace models as needed
- Junior or senior, autodidact mindset wins
The two roles overlap on purpose. The right hire could plausibly fit both. Pick the shape closer to you and apply.
The honest filter
Who this is for. And who it absolutely is not.
→This is you
- You make yourself obsolete on purpose. Every week, more of what you used to do by hand is automated. That is the goal.
- You think in systems, not tickets. When something breaks twice, you fix the system.
- You go where the value is. If sales automation moves the company this week, you build it.
- You already use agents in your side projects. And you wonder why your day job is still 2023.
- You want a seat at the table. Engineering, sales, marketing, customer calls. All of it.
×This is not you
- You want to be left alone with a Jira board.
- Your identity is wrapped up in writing every line yourself.
- You want a senior title to coast on.
- You think AI tools are a fad, or beneath you.
- You want a remote-only role with zero office days.
